Louis completed his studies at Murdoch University, Perth whilst working at a referral emergency and critical care practice. After a year as a general practice veterinarian in a busy hospital in the beautiful coastal town of Busselton, Western Australia, he set his sights back on emergency. He worked at Western Australian Veterinary Emergency and Specialty (WAVES) in the emergency and critical care service alongside specialists in their field, further exposing him to specialty veterinary medicine. He eventually made his way across the world to undertake a small animal clinical training scholarship (internship) at the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals at the Royal Veterinary College in London. He returned to home soil to complete a residency in small animal emergency and critical care at U-Vet Werribee Animal Hospital at the University of Melbourne. His masters research was characterising venom-induced consumption coagulopathy in tiger snake envenomed dogs. Louis a member of the emergency and critical care chapter of the ANZCVS. Louis enjoys a high-intensity emergency room, particularly snake envenomation, neurological emergencies, and ultrasound in the emergency room. On the flipside, the criticalist Louis finds satisfaction in the detailed intricacies of a critically ill patient and watching these patients recover from a life-threatening syndrome. If there’s a sick patient nearby, Louis will find a way to get involved!
